Raspberry and Strawberry Ice Cream and Much More

Strawberries can’t be overlooked in the culinary offer of the ‘strawberry basin’, located in the municipality of Załuski. They taste best when fresh and in season, that is in the summer. Summers, especially as hot as recently, are also perfect for consuming ice cream, although for foodies the entire year works just as well. Strawberries and ice cream go hand in hand perfectly.
In the ice cream parlor in Kroczewo raspberry and strawberry ice cream is served as part of a broader ice cream offer. It includes the so-called “culinary ice cream” which contains basil and cucumber, gorgonzola and honey plus nuts, tomato, pepper and other flavors. The ice cream from Kroczewo is “probably the best in the area of the “Friendly Mazovia” Local Action Group and beyond” to paraphrase the popular beer advertisement. Ice cream and cake flavor enhancements are by and large local and include mint from own gardens as well as raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and wild cherries from nearby areas.

The ice cream parlor is the tip of the ice(!)berg in terms of the offer of the Piekarczyk Guest House in Kroczewo. The other part of the “iceberg” consists of a restaurant offer, coffee shop, bakery, pastry shop, accommodations and organization of local events. The entire enterprise is the fruit of labor of a diligent and hardworking Piekarczyk family, natives of Kroczewo. This initiative originated about 25 years ago when a bakery that reflects the family’s last name was opened. Later a pastry shop was added, then came the ice cream parlor, semi prepared foods offer, a coffee shop and in the end a banquet hall, plus lodging and a restaurant. The tradition has been kept alive for years.

The Piekarczyk Guest House is not just a friendly place, but also, according to Anna Piekarczyk who represents the third generation of owners, it is a place where one can eat and spend quality time with family and friends, only limited by the hours of operation of the House. In that sense, this establishment is similar to local French bistros, Greek coffee shops or Viennese coffee spots, which are culture hubs and the food offer comes in second place.

Nevertheless, the culinary aspect is not neglected and is overseen by a cadre of culinary experts who worked in highly reputable establishments in the capital and who are constantly trained. This becomes evident when ordering a traditional meal because of its taste and quality. Also, the menu is changed twice a year, depending on the season, and every week there is a menu supplement which contains seasonal products and dishes. Moreover, every other weekend, a “culinary festival” is held that highlights different themes.

The Piekarczyk Guest House is an establishment rooted in Kroczewo, the municipality and the region, that cultivates responsible business practices and participates and supports actions of The Association for Development of Kroczewo and Vicinity. Two or three times a year, the Guest House co-organizes local cultural events to benefit the community. In particular, the event on March 8th is well attended and became a focal point in the local calendar.
