Nowe Miasto Fair: From Past to Present

For the past eight years, the municipality of Nowe Miasto has organized a summer, open air, event called “The Nowe Miasto Town Fair: From Past to Present”. The backdrop for the fair is the beautiful Bay of Nowe Miasto and every year a different slogan describes the festivities. In 2019 the motto was “Songs change everything…”.

Traditionally, one of the main elements of the artistic part of the fair are performances by local groups. These include children from the Autonomous Kindergarten “Teddy Ruxpin” in Nowe Miasto, youth from the Nowe Miasto Group of Schools named “European Integration”, soloists from the Municipal Culture Center, as well as members of the ensemble called “Life is Worth Living” formed from the Circle of Retirees and Disabled. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase local talents and the fruits of labor of resident institutions and organizations, not to mention the presentation of younger and older artists. There are also performances given by singing celebrities. In 2014, the unforgettable, late Zbigniew Wodecki was one of the participating artists.

Musical acts are accompanied by many attractions, different from one year to the next. These consist of fights with white side arms, hussars demonstrations, artillery shows, musketeer and halberdier drills, skirmishes of historic troops, shows of old fashion and dances, cabaret performances, theatre of fire, wreath floating, fireworks, shows presented by a motorcycle group, laser acts and many more.

The list of attractions continues and includes amusement parks, games, climbing walls, fable characters, acts by stilt-walkers, mimes and clowns, gondola and dragon boat sails on the Bay and presentations of a historic village. Moreover, at the event that carries the name of a “fair”, it is essential to showcase shopping booths and exposition stalls.
